Frequently Asked Questions

What surface will we train on?

League games and training sessions will happen on grass. In case of inclement weather, we will cancel and reschedule on our designated rain dates.

Do my partner and I have to be in the same grade?

No. You may sign up with anyone you like! They can be a student in a different grade or from a different school altogether. You can even sign up as a co-ed pair or... play with Mom or Dad! The partnership possibilities are endless!

What if I don't have a partner?

We have a separate form to fill out for finding a partner if you don't already have someone in mind. While we don't guarantee that we will be able to find someone for you, we will do the best we can to match up individual players of similar levels of play. You are welcome to sign up on your own and will have the opportunity to play in both the training program and/or the league.

What should I wear to participate?

You can wear whatever you like for training purposes (t-shirt or tank and shorts are probably most comfortable). Most players choose to play in sneakers but some prefer to play barefoot. However, indoor volleyball sneakers are not the best choice for traction on the grass playing surface. We recommend training or trail-running sneakers.

What if I can't make it to every date?

Of course it's okay if you have to miss a couple practices over the course of the summer. (We like family vacations too!) You won't be penalized for missing anything; you'll just miss that opportunity to play volleyball and get a little better. If your partner has to miss but you can still come, please do! Another player can hop on the court with you! Whenever possible, please let us know in advance so we can plan ahead.

Can I wear sunglasses?

Yes! You can choose to wear sunglasses, a hat, or a visor to protect yourself from the sun. We do recommend selecting "sport" sunglasses or sunglasses that do not have metal frames.
